My mission is to empower women to reclaim their sexual identity after Breast Cancer.
Since being diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene, and agreeing with the doctor's recommendation for a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy I have had a bonafide glimpse into the world of breast cancer. I've learned that the whole process is entirely life-changing.
We plow through the stages - being diagnosed, operated on, chemo and radiation treatments, and reconstruction. We have to give up that body-mind-spirit connection we have worked so hard to find balance in. Now, we are treated as a patient, and have to seperate our minds from our bodies in order to try to remain as positive as possible, try to remain content while we are emotionally and physically torn apart to expel this cancer from our sacred body!
One very important part of that gets overlooked - our nipples. They are the first thing we cover as we are growing up, the door to our sexuality and identity as feminine beings. How can we feel complete without them!! we look in the mirror, thankful to be alive, but missing something....
Believe me, this final step makes all the difference, you will connect with yourself in a way you forgot was possible, and learn to love the new body you have, maybe even more than ever before, now as a strong and beautiful warrior who can take on the world!
